FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

On October 6, Winnipeg-based electro-soul recording artist Rayannah releases the official music video for her track “The Water.” Lili Lavack (director), Jonathan Stanners (cinematographer) and Rayannah set out to create something that would begin in dark isolation and cross into lightness. The deeply personal video was filmed in a warehouse in Winnipeg’s Exchange District, and features an all-Winnipeg cast and crew including members of the singing collective Midnight Choir.

“The Water” is the second video to be released from Rayannah’s debut EP Boxcar Lullabies (May 2015). The EP is available online at rayannah.ca and can be found at local music retailers including McNally Robinson, Into the Music, and Librairie À la Page.

In early October Rayannah embarked on her second tour in support of Boxcar Lullabies, featuring her first US dates. The tour kicked off at the Culture Collide Festival in California, and includes dates across Canada. Rayannah will be closing out her fall performances in Winnipeg with an opening set for internationally acclaimed artist Salomé Leclerc in the renowned Coup de cœur series on November 18. Details can be found at rayannah.ca/schedule

QUOTES FROM RAYANNAH

“The night of the shoot was magical. So many movers and shakers in our community came together to make it happen. I couldn’t be more grateful to them.”

“Hearing Midnight Choir belt out the ending for the first time was a trip. It made me feel exactly what I was trying to share: the feeling when you’re surrounded by people who will carry you through, and you realize you can let go. A sort of joyful helplessness. It was also pretty great to see the choir conductor dancing on a table directing warm-up, with beer and pizza in hand."
